How It started
For centuries, Ghanaians used a “Sapo,” a natural loofah derived from a tree. It is a stringy and puffy sponge used for exfoliation.
And what happened was, during the late 70s and early 80s, an individual discovered the cloth. They used it, shared it, and it immediately became a staple in Ghana. This discovery was genius.
The new cloth was called an African sponge. It does not look like a typical sponge, but that was the name it was given. It quickly gained popularity for its superior ability to clean and exfoliate the skin, leaving the body with a nice, smooth canvas. Since then, it has become an essential part of Ghanaian bathing rituals to luxuriate the skin.
How Our Founder Shared It
